You probably already saw this post on The Berrics but I wanted to go more in depth about the issue. In San Luis Obispo, skateboarding is basically outlawed. If you’re caught skateboarding in the downtown area, you’re written a ticket, if you’re caught skating at the high school or college campuses, you’re written a ticket. Last year the UPD gave 112 tickets to skateboarders, for riding on the college campus. Fines for skateboarding start at $146 for the first, $190 for the second and $380 if caught a third time. So the last place they have to skate is either in front of their house or at the rundown skatepark that you saw in the video.
To fix this problem, Coalition Skateshop has setup The SLO Skatepark Brick Campaign to raise money for the creation of a new skatepark. The fundraiser is a donation that will be going straight to building the skatepark. What you will get out of the donation is a brick, with your name or your company’s name, in a wall that will be built in the front of the park. It’s $120 for an individual and $150 for a company.
You’re probably wondering, “What does this have to do with me or my community?”, well it is your community. The skateboarding community, we all have something in common and that’s the love for skateboarding. And right now our friends over in San Luis Obispo need our help, so get all your homies together and gather up some cash, because I know times are rough, and buy a brick. You know its going to a good cause and one day you can go up there and skate that gnarly park.

This is what the park will look like completed. Let’s all help make this happen for the skateboarding community.

The big homie Rashad Turner has been in town for a few days and has been eatin’ constantly. Along with the homies from The Bent L!fe. Too many heavy hitters in one spot!
Its been a year since we started doing all of this and we can honestly say we never had any idea we’d be taking it this far. We made a couple shirts, got homies together to skate, and have met some really cool people. Now, with the help of OK Skate, we’re now able to put on the dopest Game of Skate yet! Whether you’re just now finding out about us or you’ve been with us since the start, we appreciate you and all of the support given. So, come join us and ENJOY YOUR LIFE.
